The Sally Brooks Grant 2026/2027

 The Lactation Consultants of Great Britain (LCGB) is delighted to announce the Sally Brooks Grant 2026/2027, offering financial support to individuals preparing to take the IBLCE examination.

This grant aims to reduce financial barriers and support individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality lactation support to families across the UK.

Grant Details

Two successful candidates will have their IBLCE examination fees fully covered.

This grant supports candidates intending to sit the IBLCE exam in:

  • September 2026
  • April 2027
  • September 2027

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must confirm that, to the best of their knowledge, they meet the IBLCE eligibility requirements. Applicants must:

  • Reside in the UK
  • Intend to provide lactation services in the UK after gaining IBCLC certification
  • Exam-specific eligibility:
    • September 2026 exam:
      Applicants must have completed all IBLCE eligibility requirements prior to exam entry.
    • April and September 2027 exams:
      Applicants must have completed, or be close to completing, all eligibility requirements.

Priority Consideration

LCGB particularly welcomes applications from individuals who plan to work in:

  • NHS Trusts
  • Charities
  • Not-for-profit organisations
  • And/or who:
    • Work in or come from disadvantaged communities who are experiencing health inequalities by not accessing lactation support
    • Are single parents
    • Have personal barriers, including disability or long-term health conditions
    • Live in geographical areas with limited access to IBCLC support
    • Serves communities with a protected characteristic as defined under the equality act 2010.

Timeline

  • Applications Open: 9 February 2026
  • Application Deadline: 9 March 2026
  • Phase 1 Selection: 10 March – early April
  • Phase 2 Interviews: Week commencing 20 April
  • References Requested: Week commencing 27 April
  • Candidates Notified: Week commencing 4 May 2026
  • Successful candidates will then be supported to apply during the IBLCE September 2026 exam application window, expected to open in mid-May.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of two stages:

  • Phase 1:
    Submission of the completed online application form.
  • Phase 2:
    Informal interviews with shortlisted candidates, followed by reference checks.
