The Lactation Consultants of Great Britain (LCGB) was founded in 1994 as a not-for-profit membership organisation. To act as a professional voice for breastfeeding in the UK and a provider of advanced education for IBCLCs and infant feeding specialists.
In 2020 LCGB became a registered Charity (CIO- Charitable Incorporated Organisation)  working to improve the health and wellbeing of families. As a professional voice for breastfeeding, LCGB advocates for parents to receive the information and support they need to achieve their breastfeeding goals. Through promoting the knowledge and skills of an International Borad Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
LCGB also provides learning and networking opportunities for our Members, Subscribers and those supporting breastfeeding. Education is offered by our Conference and LCGB-OWL (Ongoing Web Learning) and the available resources held on this website. Networking opertunities arrise from volunteering within the Charity, and participating in our Regional Network groups and our various WhatsApp groups. An LCGB representative is also involved in a number of UK strategic infant feeding matters.
An annual free, Subscription to our monthly online Newsletter & Education Bulletin is available to all those that wish to sign up to receive it.
LCGB Membership is open to all, health professionals and non health professionals. Our members include; IBCLC, infant feeding leads, nurses, midwives, health visitors, doctors, GPs, paediatricians, breastfeeding counsellors, peer supporters, dietitians, complementary therapists, speach and language therapists, NHS and public health project leads, academic researchers, and indivuals from the voluntary sector as well as those aspiring to be IBCLCs.
Membership of LCGB has increased in recent years and we welcome IBCLC members and Associate members.
